Pam Daley

When Pam Daley delivers a song she invites the listener in as she unknowingly reveals pieces of her soul. Her refined, crystal clear vocals are at once intimate and open, as if the words are meant to be shared, but also meant only for you. In years past, Daley sang in rock bands that tended to drown out the subtler colors of her voice. But when she returned to the music that she loved, bluegrass and acoustic country, she had found her way home.

Longtime bluegrassers may remember Pam as a member of Cornerstone, the early 90’s upstate New York band that introduced a then young and virtually unknown Chris Stuart. They were the 1991 winners of the Winterhawk band contest and soon afterward began work on their 1992 debut recording “Maggie’s Daughter”. The album was produced by Bil Vorndick, known for his work with the multi-Grammy winning Alison Krauss. “Maggie’s Daughter” was immediately embraced by listeners and the title song found its place on the bluegrass charts. In 1992 Cornerstone showcased at the IBMA Trade Show in Owensboro, KY. Stuart has since moved on to become a highly respected bandleader and award-winning songwriter, while Pam who is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania, has made Nashville her home for the past 16 years. Daley’s own venture into songwriting garnered her some success with Claire Lynch’s recording of Pam’s song “After the Storm” on Lynch’s “Friends for a Lifetime” album.

Throughout the years, while raising children and earning a living a variety of ways, Daley often lost site of her original intent to move to Nashville to fulfill her life-long dream of a singing career. She admits to a depressing seven year period of her life when singing felt like a “luxury pursuit” while she worked long, hard hours in order to pay the bills. But she never gave up hope that someday she would sing her songs to those who cared to listen, and record an album of her original material. That day has arrived.

In 2005 Daley began work on a solo album that would end up being three years in the making. Co-produced by the multi-talented Keith Little, “Someone Like You” was finally completed and is scheduled for release in early 2010. Drawing from the deep well of talented musicians who also call Nashville home, Daley cleverly enlisted the help of world-class players the likes of Rob Ickes (dobro, slide guitar), David Grier (guitar), and Claire Lynch (vocals) to lend their talents to the 12 songs she selected to record. Eight of the songs on “Someone Like You” are written or co-written by Pam, three are from the pen of master songwriter Robert Gateley, and Chris Stuart provides the album closer, Desert Lullaby. A pre-release review of Pam’s album earned a coveted five-star rating from Maverick Magazine.
