Erika Chambers
Nashville based singer-songwriter, Erika Chambers is a modern roots artist with a nostalgic twist. Relatively new to the music scene, Erika is honored to be a 2 time IBMA showcase songwriter (2007 & 2008) and has had the pleasure of performing with such Americana/ folk inspirations as Leigh Nash, Julie Lee, Drew Holcomb, & Katy Bowser.
“People are not only mesmerized by the beauty of Erika Chamber’s voice, but also by the incredible story that unfolds within each of her songs. It is only a matter of time before the rest of the world discovers this rare gem.” - Courtney Pitre/ Bluegrass Highway KRVS 88.7 FM.
First-time listeners often assume that Erika’s songs are creative renditions of old folk favorites, and are surprised to learn that her music is original. Also surprising, is the fact that it wasn’t until a few short years ago that Erika began to appreciate, love, and write country music (with old-time, bluegrass, folk, & gospel influences.)
In fact, Erika wasn’t aware of Patsy Cline, until her family moved from Phoenix, AZ to the outskirts of Nashville, and she ended up in jr. high school with the icon’s grandchildren.
Erika is now proud to consider not only Patsy Cline a direct influence, but also, The Carter Family, Alison Krauss, Patti Griffin, Mindy Smith, Eva Cassidy, Buddy & Julie Miller, Nickel Creek, songs her Grandmother taught her from the 30’s, & Blue Mother Tupelo, among others. (The later duo, features Ricky & Mickol Davis, whom Erika feels blessed to have, on her 2010 debut release ‘light at eventide,’ along with Eric Paslay.)
“Spiritual, insightful, and even humorous, Chambers is a consummate storyteller. Mixing elements of country, gospel, and blues, Chambers relates timeless tales of heroes and villains, lost lovers and those who are left behind, and the meek and the able. ”- Carolyn Dixon/Melodic Sunburst.
In addition to her music, Erika is busy building a better Nashville, and is most passionate about her work as United Way of Metropolitan Nashville’s Community Engagement Coordinator. Erika is actively involved in TN flood recovery efforts, along with volunteer opportunities & songwriting contests. Erika’s own ‘Won’t Be Shaken By No Storm’ was actually written & recorded just three days prior to the tragic flood of May 2010. And through the United Way’s “Restore The Dream” program, Erika’s original music has helped raise money for flood relief.
