Barry Scott & Second Wind

Barry Scott & Second Wind

Since the beginning of his musical journey at the age of seven, Barry Scott has served his time with several of Bluegrass and Gospel musics best known acts. This Georgia native has been a member of The Perry’s, The Dixie Melody Boys, Gold City Quartet, and most recently a nine year tour as tenor and lead vocalist with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.

At years end in 2005 Barry felt his heart being pulled in a different direction and announced his leaving from Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Scott then started putting together the pieces to form his own band, Second Wind. In 2009, Barry Scott and Second Wind signed a contract with Rebel Records and released their debut project. With such a steep heritage in Gospel music, its no surprise that the bands first album was an all gospel recording entitled “In God’s Time” which features guest appearances of a few friends including Vince Gill. The album includes seven original songs written by Barry. "in God's Time" was also nominated for the 2010 Grammy Awards in the Gospel category.

Second Wind consists of four members other than Barry Scott. Zane Petty of Kodak, Tennessee on Banjo, Matthew Munsey of Nashville, Tennessee on Mandolin/Vocals, Daniel Salyer of Bluff City, TN on Guitar/Vocals, and Travis Houck of Chilhowie, Virginia on Resonator Guitar/Vocals.
